Official Us Trailer for François Ozon's Sensual Romance 'Double Lover'

"Lying to seduce is common practice among pretty women." Cohen Media Group has debuted the official Us trailer for the latest film from French filmmaker François Ozon, titled The Double Lover (in French, it is L'amant Double), which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last year. This is being released right around Valentine's Day in the Us, which might be too on-the-nose for this very sexual romance. Apparently the opening shot is a jaw-dropping zoom out from a woman's privates, and the film only gets more sensual from there. Marine Vacth stars as Chloé, a vulnerable Parisian woman who falls madly in love with her charming therapist, only to discover he is hiding part of his identity when she gets closer to him. The cast includes Jérémie Renier, Jacqueline Bisset, Myriam Boyer, and Fanny Sage. If you're looking for something romantic and sexual and tantalizing and very French, then you

Movie Review – Amant Double (2017)

Amant Double, 2017.

Directed by Francois Ozon.

Starring Marine Vacth, Jeremie Renier, and Jacqueline Bisset.

Synopsis:

Chloé, a fragile young woman, falls in love with her psychoanalyst, Paul. A few months later she moves in with him, but soon discovers that her lover is concealing a part of his identity.

Amant Double is destined to draw comparisons (and probably already has) to the recent film adaptations of Fifty Shades of Grey which would normally cause me to send all of you lovely readers running for the hills, but not in this case. Directed by Francois Ozon (Frantz) and based on the novel Lives of the Twins by Joyce Carol Oates, this erotic thriller dives deep into psychological territory rather than blast garbage mainstream pop music over flaccid sexual encounters. It isn’t necessarily about Bdsm lifestyle choices but provides a peek into submissive and dominant relationship dynamics, albeit with a mind-bending presentation involving long-buried secrets,

Golden Globes 2018: Meyers, #MeToo and How Oprah Saved the World

The Golden Globes get woke? Most years the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's ceremony barely looks semi-conscious. That's the whole point of this tipsiest and dippiest of award shows, where a herd of wobbly celebrities squeeze themselves into the Beverly Hilton for a night of free booze and camera time. But the 2018 Golden Globe Awards tried to get serious, with stars wearing black on the red carpet, host Seth Meyers cracking jokes about Hollywood sexual predators and a triumphant speech from Oprah Winfrey. The results might have been spectacularly awkward

Murder On The Orient Express – Review

Judi Dench, left, and Olivia Colman star in Twentieth Century Fox’s “Murder on the Orient Express.” Photo Credit: Nicola Dove; Tm & © 2017 Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation. All Rights Reserved. Not for sale or duplication.

Murder On The Orient Express, Kenneth Branagh’s new film adaptation of the classic Agatha Christie mystery, offers a certain amount of lavish period style and mystery fun but does not measure up to the 1974 version, directed by Sidney Lumet and featuring an all-star cast. Branagh’s film also has a star-packed cast and Branagh, who plays detective Hercule Poirot as well as directs, sports an astonishing two-stage mustache that might be worth the ticket price alone.

Based on the famous Agatha Christie mystery featuring her Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot, the 1974 film version had an all-star cast with Albert Finney, Lauren Bacall, Martin Balsam,

Ingrid Bergman, Jacqueline Bisset, Sean Connery, John Gielgud, Wendy Hiller, Anthony Perkins,

Murder on the Orient Express movie review: strangers on a train

MaryAnn’s quick take… Doubly dated, lacking in humor and subtext, its impressive cast deliberately underutilized, this is little more than an exercise in gorgeous production design. I’m “biast” (pro): love the cast

I’m “biast” (con): saw no need for another production

I can’t recall if I’ve read the source material (I might have as a teenager in my classic-mystery phase, but if so, clearly it didn’t stick)

(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)

Here’s the biggest mystery of director and star Kenneth Branagh’s opulent period mounting of the 1934 Agatha Christie novel: Why? Who was clamoring for yet another retelling of a story that has been told onscreen — both the big and small screens — several times already, and as recently as 2010 in the beloved television series starring David Suchet as Hercule Poirot? Why bother to tell this story

From VHS to VOD #3

I don’t know if you’re anything like me, but I can often spend hours upon hours trawling through iTunes looking for new movies to buy… Usually I’ll randomly come across a title I haven’t seen in years and use the “Cast & Crew” links to make my way down the rabbit hole to the more obscure side of Apple’s digital movie service.

Now whilst many will decry that iTunes is a terrible VOD service due to Apple’s desire to lock its audience to their platforms, if you have an Apple TV or iPad be aware – there are some truly obscure films hidden away in the depths of the vast collection of movies. Some of which have been made available in the UK for the first time since VHS and a Lot that have been added to the service in their original uncut form!

So, with

Huston was 77, and suffering from emphysema for several years, when he returned to Mexico – the setting of both The Treasure of the Sierra Madre and The Night of the Iguana – to direct 28-year-old newcomer Guy Gallo's adaptation of English poet and novelist Malcolm Lowry's 1947 semi-autobiographical novel Under the Volcano, which until then had reportedly defied the screenwriting abilities of numerous professionals. Appropriately set on the Day of the Dead – 1938 – in the fictitious Mexican town of Quauhnahuac (the fact that it sounds like Cuernavaca

Trailer for World Trade Center Drama '9/11' Directed by Martin Guigui

"I need you to try to get the hell out of that elevator." Atlas Distribution has premiered a trailer for a new drama titled 9/11, telling the story of five people trapped inside an elevator in the World Trade Center's North Tower on 9/11. They work together, never giving up hope, to try and find a way out safely. It's only been 16 years, but I guess we've reached a point where movies can literally use the 9/11 date as their title when telling a story centered around this horrific moment. The ensemble cast of this film includes Charlie Sheen, Whoopi Goldberg, Luis Guzman, Gina Gershon, Wood Harris, Jacqueline Bisset, Olga Fonda and Bruce Davison. It's directed by Martin Guigui, the same guy who made the unofficial Raging Bull sequel The Bronx Bull. The final shot in this trailer is totally crazy, and potentially a spoiler? Watch out. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster
