‘The Gifted 1×11: 3 X 1′ Review

The end of the last episode of The Gifted finally revealed Esme’s (Skyler Samuels) secret, then left us hanging until the return after the Christmas break. What her character(s) give us in this episode though, is the return of a club that could take the show to the next level.

Tensions are high at Mutant HQ, and Jace Turner (Coby Bell) is more determined than ever to capture the Mutants, especially after the apparent betrayal. Reed and Kate Strucker (Stephen Moyer and Amy Acker) decide that their family should leave the HQ, but Dr. Campbell (Garret Dillahunt) has plans to recapture the Strucker kids.

The Gifted starts at full speed this week with the revelation that Esme and her sisters are part of the Hellfire Club. This is interesting of course because it connects with the Struckers (Von Struckers) and their past. Not only that, but other mutants

The X-Men Series The Gifted Has Officially Been Renewed For Season 2

I've actually really enjoyed the Marvel X-Men-inspired series The Gifted. Fox seems to be happy with how it's doing in the ratings because they have officially confirmed that it will be coming back for a second season.

This is great! I'm happy that we will get to see the story continue with these characters. The thirteen episode first season isn't over yet. There will be a two-hour finale set for January 15th.

I wasn't sure what would happen with this show, especially since Disney bought Fox, but it doesn't look like that is going to affect the series... yet. Hopefully, the series will have a long life... if it continues to stay good.

The Gifted is produced by Bryan Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory, and the second season will be a part of the 2018-19 release season.

If you haven't watched The Gifted yet,

‘The Gifted 1×10: eXploited’ Review

Christmas may be days away, but that doesn’t mean that The Gifted is going to offer much cheer. In a world where the humans are the monsters, willing to do unspeakable things to the mutants, things are looking a little dark. With Lauren (Natalie Alyn Lind) and Andy (Percy Hynes White) in the hands of Trask Industries, will they be able to escape?

This week Reed Strucker (Stephen Moyer) and wife Kate (Amy Acker) are manipulated by Esme (Skyler Samuels) to try to get help from Jace (Coby Bell) to protect their kids from Trask Industries. With them gone though, Esme then uses this to force the other mutants to plan an attack that could put them all in trouble.

For most of this episode, things are a little slow, with the characters more interested in talking about their predicament instead of taking action. Even Reed and Kate forcing

‘The Gifted 1×09: outfoX’ Review

Now that we know about the origins of the Strucker family powers, The Gifted provides us with an interesting question. If Andy (Percy Hynes White) and Lauren (Natalie Alyn Lind) have the ability to wield hugely destructive power, should they use it?

With the Struckers dealing with the news about Andy and Lauren, the rest of the mutants look to Trask Industries. With Esme (Skyler Samuels) the new mutant with psychic powers apparently manipulating the situation, is she all she seems?

If there is one thing that the Mutant Underground has handled so far, it is not to overstretch themselves and get into trouble. This week though as time is running out, the need to act slowly worms its way into the group. The audience gets to see that Esme is doing a good job at pushing this too, raising the potential that she may be a mole in the group.

‘The Gifted 1×08: Threat of eXtinction’ Review

When a new show is finding its feet, it often has the one episode that stands out as the moment it hooks the audience and has their full attention. The Gifted has had quite a few leading up to the eighth episode, but with Threat of eXtinction we learn some secrets that turn this from a good show, to one that could be potentially great.

When the Mutant Underground collect a group of mutant refugees from a safe house that is in danger from Sentinel Services one of them is exposed as a spy. When they discover that this mutant is being controlled by Trask Industries, the company Dr. Campbell (Garret Dillahunt) works for, Reed (Stephen Moyer) finds himself paying a visit to his estranged farther who once worked for the company.

‘The Gifted 1×07: eXtreme Measures’ Review

After all the action over the last few weeks, The Gifted slows down a little. Focusing on building tension in the mutant group, and showing how far Sentinel Services are willing to go, we are now seeing a build up to a possible war.

This week Eclipse (Sean Teale) must do as promised and answer the call of the Cartel. When Reed (Stephen Moyer) finds out about Lauren’s (Natalie Alyn Lind) new friend’s past tension is caused between father and daughter. Thunderbird (Blair Redford) tracks down Blink (Jamie Chung) to help her in her search, and Jace Turner (Coby Bell) and Dr. Campbell (Garret Dillahunt) work together on a plan to take down the Mutant Underground.

When Eclipse went to the Cartel for help in his bid to free Polaris (Emma Dumont) he knew that the price he would have to pay would cause tension, and that is

What made you take the role in The Gifted? How was it originally pitched to you?

I was in Toronto doing a directing job and I didn’t really have my head in acting at that point - not because I was stopping, but just because I was in my directing head. It kind of came out of the blue and, obviously because Anna (Paquin, Stephen’s partner) has a

The Gifted is a show that maybe about mutants and their powers, but it is more than just another X-Men themed show. It is about family, and this week we see how the Strucker parents have to adapt to the fact their children are different. For those looking for more mutant action, we also see some impressive powers shown off.

‘The Gifted 1×05: boXed In’ Review

Since The Gifted began we’ve learnt little bits about Jace Turner (Cody Bell) but his actions have overshadowed his own personal story. This week though not only do we get to see what caused his vendetta against the mutants, but also see the impossible happen. He may actually be turning into a character we actually care about.

With Reed (Stephen Moyer) and Polaris (Emma Dumont) now free the mutants must escape Sentinel Services who are fast tracking them down. With the mutants wary of him, Reed takes a big risk to earn their truest, while Polaris and Eclipse (Marcos Diaz) come face to face with Jace Turner.

The episode starts with a flashback to the day of the event that we keep on hearing about. What we see is what makes Jace hate the mutants so much, and it humanises him more. It is hard to not relate to
