Steven Mnuchin Dodges Relativity Film Finance Fraud Lawsuit

New York Supreme Court Justice Charles Ramos granted a motion by Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin Wednesday to dismiss him from a fraud lawsuit filed against him due to his role at Relativity Media, Ryan Kavanaugh’s troubled production company. Lender Rka Film Financing first filed the suit in 2015, claiming Relativity borrowed money the film company “falsely represented” would be used for P&A — prints, advertising and other costs related to promoting the release of its movies — and then used those funds instead to finance operations and pay executive bonuses. It is seeking $110 million in damages. OneWest Bank, which Mnuchin founded and. »

Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell wasn’t acting like himself before he took his own life last month, and was “on a rant” while speaking to his wife on the phone prior to his suicide, according to Cornell’s widow Vicky. Vicky Cornell spoke with People, saying that Cornell, who was normally “humble, sweet, kind and good, with the patience of saint,” was acting like a very different person during their phone conversation prior to his suicide by hanging. “This was not a depressed man — it wasn’t like I missed that,” Vicky Cornell said. “What I missed were the signs of addiction. »

‘Wonder Woman’ on Brink of Beating ‘Suicide Squad,’ ‘Batman v Superman’ at Box Office

There’s no Lasso of Truth like box-office numbers: Wonder Woman is about to conquer Batman, Superman, Harley Quinn and all her Suicide Squad comrades. As it approaches its fifth weekend in theaters, “Wonder Woman” is set to pass its DC Extended Universe predecessors, “Batman v Superman” and “Suicide Squad,” at the domestic box-office with a $325 million total and counting. After grossing $3.9 million on Tuesday, “Wonder Woman” is less than $6,000 away from passing “Suicide Squad” and its $325.1 million domestic take. If “Wonder Woman” maintains its current pace, it should pass “BvS” and its $330 million total by the end of Thursday. »

Way to make a boob of yourself at your husband’s concert, Chrissy Teigen. “Lip Sync Battle” personality Teigen had a nip-slink battle while joining her husband onstage Tuesday night, baring a bit more than her soul during Legend’s performance of “Slow Dance.” The onstage appearance started semi-innocently enough, with Teigen grinding her rear end against Legend’s loin region. 1 hour ago

Did you know that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige — who, by the way, is a huge “Star Wars” nerd — almost had Sith Lord Darth Vader appear in 2014’s “Guardians of the Galaxy”? At the “Spider-Man: Homecoming” junket, Feige told Mashable: “Always, we wanted to reveal at a certain point in the movie that Peter Quill was a human from Earth. And for a long time, I really thought it was going to be the greatest thing in the world that you’re in a spaceship and he’s talking to one of the alien characters and he knocks over his. »

‘Veep’ Vagi-brary Looks a Whole Lot Like George Lucas’ New Museum (Photos)

In four years, George Lucas will join the likes of Eli Broad and J. Paul Getty as a private museum founder in Los Angeles. On Tuesday, the L.A. City Council approved his plans to build the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Exposition Park, just cross the street from his alma mater, USC. But as Julia Louis-Dreyfus and fans of “Veep” might have noticed, Lucas’ design for his futuristic museum resembles that of the Selina Meyer Presidential Library, which is notable because both buildings look like (wait for it) a vagina. In the “Veep” Season 6 finale, Selina (Louis-Dreyfus), having just published. »

On Tuesday afternoon, Del Toro heaped praise upon “Baby Driver” in a series of swooning tweets, comparing the movie’s use of music during its elaborate car chase scenes to Gene Kelly’s dancing in “An American In Paris.” He also compared Wright to famed action and western movie director Walter Hill, whom Wright has mentioned was a major influence when making “Baby Driver. »

Halle Berry: My Oscar Win ‘Meant Nothing’ for Diversity in Hollywood

When Halle Berry won a Best Actress Oscar in 2002 for her performance in “Monster’s Ball,” it was widely considered to be a turning point for women of color in Hollywood. “Every nameless, faceless woman of color that now has a chance because this door tonight has been opened,” she said in a powerful acceptance speech. But 15 years later, Berry is still the only black woman to ever win the award. “It’s troubling. To say the least, it’s troubling,” Berry said in a conversation with Elaine Welteroth, editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. »
