11.8 The Tesla Recoil

At this point in The Big Bang Theory’s life, it’d be hard to build a solid defence of any of the characters. At one point or another they’ve all acted like terrible people, and for once The Tesla Recoil sees the show really lean into that and exploit it not just for laughs, but also for drama.

I can see how this episode might be infuriating for a certain quadrant of the audience, but for me it felt more honest and - as a result - funny than a more traditionally light-hearted instalment.

The Magic Faraway Tree is heading to the movies

Simon Brew Nov 20, 2017

Simon Farnaby is to script the first movie adaption of Enid Blyton's The Magic Faraway Tree

With its bank account flush following its success with Paddington and Paddington 2, StudioCanal has greenlit a major film adaptation of Enid Blyton’s The Magic Faraway Tree. Incredibly, it’s not been the source for a film before.

Simon Farnaby, co-writer of Paddington 2 and part of the Horrible Histories and Yonderland ensemble, is penning the screenplay for the film. In the official press announcement, he says “The Magic Faraway Tree books are a firework display of the imagination. The pages are lit up with wonderful characters, humour, peril and adventure. Most homes have a well worn jam fingerprinted volume somewhere on their shelves. I’m very much looking forward to bringing the likes of the Old Saucepan Man and Dame Washalot to the big screen for fans both old and new”.

8.5 The Big Scary U

Negan has been the show's longest-running villain, and there's a reason for that. Negan is one of the more popular characters from the comic book continuity, he's played by one of the better actors on the show, and he's running a massive network of thugs and murderers who keep the kinder communities under his thumb and keep his Saviors well stocked up on pickles and ammunition. He's also the only person holding that organisation together, and without Negan's presence, the Saviors will return to what they were prior to his arrival—squabbling gangs shooting at one another over cans of corn.

However, Negan, despite all his wit and glower, »

In a statement to Deadline, Tambor citied a "politicised atmosphere" as the reason for his autonomous departure.

"Playing Maura Pfefferman on Transparent has been one of the greatest privileges and creative experiences of my life,” Tambor said. “What has become clear over the past weeks, however, is that this is no longer the job I signed up for four years ago. I’ve already made clear my deep regret if any action of mine was ever misinterpreted by anyone as being aggressive, but the »

3.10 Heaven And Earth

In any other show, jumping off a ship into the dark ocean would be the craziest thing one romantic lead has done for another. On Outlander, it's like #15 on the list. Basically, it's just another Thursday in the love story of Jamie and Claire.

Heaven And Earth told a story we've seen before — Claire proving her mettle as a doctor in a time that desperately needs her — but boy does Outlander tell this story well. After being more or less kidnapped at the end of last week's episode, Claire sets herself about the task of containing the spread of typhoid fever on board a British naval vessel. After all, she may be kidnapped, »
