The Punisher Netflix Series: Does It Hit the Target? (Spoilers)

The latest Marvel-based Netflix series came out this week, continuing the adventures of gun-toting vigilante Frank Castle, Aka the Punisher. The character was popular when he appeared in Daredevil. Does the Punisher fare as well in his own series? (Spoilers below.)

The Punisher is the sixth Marvel Netflix series (Following Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and the Defenders) and it’s probably the most controversial, since it deals not only with Ptsd and the treatment of war veterans, it also touches on the gun control debate. Beyond all that, this is an action shoot-em-up. It’s surprisingly dark and violent for a Marvel comics adaptation, but the Netflix shows are quite different from what you’ll see in Thor: Ragnarok.

The Punisher is once again seeking answers to day of the shooting that led to the death of his family. This was dealt with in Daredevil season 2, but it’s expanded upon here, »

Star Trek Continues Comes to a Classy Conclusion

17 November 2017 6:16 PM, PST

The best fan-made web-series has come to an end. To Boldly Go: Part 2 was released this week and it not only concludes the show in style, it also brings the 5-year mission of the Starship enterprise to a solid, entertaining end.

It was a bittersweet moment watching the final episode of Star Trek Continues. On one had, it was great to see this excellent series get wrapped up so well, but it was also sad to realize that there won’t be any further episodes. The purpose of the show was bridge the gap between the end of the classic 1966-69 TV series (“Turnabout Intruder” was the final original series episode) and big screen cinematic adventures, which it does very well. It was a great ride, while it lasted.

Vic Mignogna, the executive producer/writer, who portrays Captain Kirk on the show, explains what he wanted to accomplish with this last episode. »

The Rock Battles Giant Beasts in First Trailer For Rampage

16 November 2017 1:27 PM, PST

For the first time since 1995, we might have a video game movie that lives up to Mortal Kombat’s greatness. How do we know? Because The Rock, duh.

In 1986 Bally Midway introduced us to an arcade game where players take control of gigantic monsters destroying cities, all while trying to survive against military forces. You would win each round by completely destroying the city. Sounds like the perfect basis for an action adventure film. But who is big enough to star in such a monstrous film?

Well no other than The Rock. In the abundance of films that he, or one of his clones, have been filming lately Rampage is set to be the next video game project to attempt to accepted by audiences. Rock plays Davis Okoye, a primatologist who is the head of an anti-poaching unit. He is accompanied by his best friend, an albino silver back named George. »

Could Jake Gyllenhaal To Take Up The Bat Mantle?

16 November 2017 12:58 PM, PST

In the on again, off again, drama that is the Batfleck saga, new rumors have surfaced of new younger Batman to take up the mantle going forward with Matt ReevesThe Batman.

Ben Affleck has been hot and cold about whether or not he would continue to play The Dark Knight in the Dceu. Speaking with USA Today, Affleck confirmed he is looking for a way to gracefully exit as Batman. A cool way to take his character out of the Dceu. Which is on par for the course that has been Batfleck. However the verbiage lays out that he is contemplating The Batman which is set to be directed by Reeves’ but other sources have revealed that Reeves’ might have someone else in mind.

John Campea, formally of Collider Video, spoke about the situation on his podcast The John Campea Show, that he has heard from sources that Jake Gyllenhaal »

The Strangers Prey At Night Gets Its First Trailer

16 November 2017 12:29 PM, PST

Once again based on true events, never underestimate the kindness of The Strangers.

Early last month we got our first image and title for the sequel for the 2008 Horror film The Strangers. Now we have our first trailer for Prey At Night, check it out below.

Looks kind of intense if you ask me. However, I do worry that this will end up being a very run of the mill basic horror film. The magic of the first was that it was confined to a single area, while this looks like the characters are on the run.

Set for release on the near 10 year anniversary of the original film, March 9, 2018. Johannes Roberts, the man that brought the most incredible shark film of recent memory, 47 Meters Down, is set to direct. Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) and Bailee Madison (Once Upon a Time) are set to star.

Morbius The Living Vampire Is Getting His Own Film

16 November 2017 11:37 AM, PST

The Sony Spider-Verse/Spiderless-Verse is adding another blood sucking film to the slate.

Venom is underway over at Fox with Tom Hardy set to play the iconic Anti-Hero, and Black Cat and Silver Sable is in the pipeline to get running at some point. Both films are set to take place in a Spider-Man-Less universe, or maybe Tom Hollond’s Wallcrawler might show, to be honest we have no idea. What we do know is that they are full steam ahead on their Spider-Man characters. Now we have our 3rd character getting his own stand alone. Morbius The Living Vampire.

Not including Blade, I would have to say that Morbius is the most famous Marvel Vampire, so I guess it makes sense to make a film centered on him. Besides those Twilight films did pretty well, right? The news on the film comes from THR, who reports that Power Rangers »

"James Toback Humped My Leg In Central Park"

16 November 2017 11:11 AM, PST

An Interview with the makers of Infinity Baby

2017: The Weinstein’s, Toback’s, Spacey’s, C.K’s, Affleck’s, and Hoffman’s of the film world have, for the first time, been ousted from their Hollywood havens and floated down an assembly line into the best short-term rehab facilities movie money can buy.

The effect is all encompassing, not just for filmmakers & entertainers, but for politicians (George H.W Bush, Al Franken), and the civilians who consume them, too. The influence is so sweeping that, come the 40th Denver Film Festival, a Toback story derailed an interview organized between the cast and crew of the feature film Infinity Baby, that was held in a small corner of the city’s Civic Center.

In attendance: Infinity Baby’s director Bob Byington (7 Chinese Brothers, Harmony & Me), its writer Onur Tukel (Catfight, The Misogynists), and its star Trieste Kelly Dunn (Banshee, »

Fox may have been in talks to sell to Disney at one point, but now that that’s not going through, it is time to dig down deep, and bring out the big guns of the Mutant Universe, Multiple Man….

We’ve seen him before. Eric Dane portrayed Jaimie Madrox in X-Men 3: The Last Stand, where he was a member of the Brotherhood after being broken out of police custody. It wasn’t a big part, but he did stand out a little bit. Now Fox is looking to bring back Multiple Man in his own film

In an Exclusive obtained by Deadline Fox is in the process of creating a film around the mutant whose powers allow him to create multiple copies of himself. The report specifies that Fox is in talk with James Franco to take over the role, with Simon Kinberg set to produce the film, »

Christopher Nolan Discusses Cinematic Storytelling at AFI

15 November 2017 3:45 PM, PST

Christopher Nolan appeared at AFI fest this past Sunday to discuss his opinion on cinematic storytelling and his latest film Dunkirk. Guests watched Dunkirk on 70mm before the discussion, which was a gift in itself. The film is equally incredible when viewed on film than in an IMAX.

Christopher Nolan sums up Dunkirk perfectly by calling it an “intimate epic.” The script is only 76 pages long and film tells the story of soldiers of England, Belgium, and France surrounded by the German army in World War II and the struggle to be evacuated. Instead of creating a film in a traditional three-act story, Christopher Nolan uses a different approach and essentially dives right into the action, skipping character introductions and exposition. The film is broken into three different stories that eventualy intertwine into each other: one story about a group of soldiers on land which takes place in a week, »
