Box Office: ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Rockets to $215 Million Opening Weekend
Disney-Lucasfilm’s “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” is set to take over the box office in its opening weekend, raking in around $215 million from 4,232 North American sites.

Including $45 million from Thursday previews — the second-largest Thursday night preview total ever, below “Star Wars: The Force Awakens’s” 2015 total of $57 million — the tentpole film brought in $104 million from Friday, and is looking to add over $100 million between Saturday and Sunday.

The total gross will make “The Last Jedi” the fourth film in domestic box office history to make over $200 million in its first weekend, joining “The Force Awakens” with $248.8 million, “Jurassic World” with $208.8 million, and 2012’s “The Avengers” with $207.4 million. “The Last Jedi” will finish significantly above Star Wars spinoff “Rogue One,” which opened with $155.1 million on the same weekend a year ago.

Peter Jackson Slams Harvey Weinstein’s ‘Lord of the Rings’ Blacklist Denial as ‘A Deflection From the Truth’
Peter Jackson and Harvey Weinstein are engaging in a war of words over the audition process for “The Lord of the Rings.” Jackson claims when he was working with Miramax on early development of the J. R. R. Tolkien adaptation in 1998 that Weinstein blacklisted actresses Ashley Judd and Mira Sorvino from auditioning, allegedly telling Jackson that both were a “nightmare to worth with.”

Weinstein quickly responded to Jackson’s story and denied the claims were true. A publicist for the disgraced former studio executive issued a statement in which Weinstein said he has “nothing but the utmost respect for Peter Jackson” and assured that he was not involved in casting. Weinstein noted that “Miramax lost the project and all casting was done by New Line.”

Jackson has now responded

‘SNL': Host Kevin Hart, Who Is Very Short, Delivers Dead-On Impersonation of Shaq (Video)
Kevin Hart is shot, yes. This is a common joke he makes about himself, being a dude who stands at about 5’4”. That is below average. And it’s about 21 inches short of the Hall of Fame basketball player Shaquille O’Neal — who Hart played during an “SNL” sketch parodying TNT’s “Inside the NBA” postgame show. Hart nailed Shaq’s notoriously rambling style and penchant for going off on tangents at every opportunity, not to mention his faux-feud with co-host Charles Barkley, here played by “SNL” cast member Kenan Thompson. The bit also included Alex Moffat as Ernie Johnson and Chris.

‘SNL': Host Kevin Hart Pees His Pants During a Meeting (Video)
This week on “SNL.” we got to see host Kevin Hart struggle to control his bladder during a work meeting — because he was too proud to admit that the reason he needed to bail was because he needed to use the bathroom. The gag in this sketch involved Hart pretending to take a phone call during a meeting in which he was alerted to an important family emergency — but it was all a pretense so he could just go to the bathroom because the meeting was taking place right after lunch. His co-workers were wise to the ruse,...

Does ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Feature an Homage to ‘The Phantom Menace’?
(There is a spoiler ahead for “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” It’s not really a major spoiler, but you know better than I do what you consider something you don’t want to know before seeing the movie. Do whatever you want with that information.) Whereas “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” operated as though it wanted you to forget the prequels exist by shoving in nods to the original trilogy at every opportunity, “The Last Jedi” doesn’t quite share its predecessor’s disdain for that other trilogy. “The Last Jedi” pays tribute in two ways.
