J.J. Abrams, currently immersed in the Star Wars feature film universe, is plotting his return to TV writing.

The prolific writer, producer and director is shopping a space-set spec script that, should it go to series, would be the first show he wrote and created since Fringe in 2008. Sources say Apple and HBO — where Abrams serves as an Ep on Westworld — are both in the running for the untitled drama, with producers Warner Bros. Television also open to additional bidders as the project is still being shopped. Warners, Apple and HBO all declined comment.

‘The Walking Dead’ Star Chandler Riggs Insists ‘Carl Wasn’t Being Forgotten’
Of all the deaths we’ve been through on “The Walking Dead,” the death of Carl Grimes just might hit the hardest — especially because of the cliffhanger way the audience found out about his fate. Actor Chandler Riggs, who plays the one-eyed son of the show’s main character, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), is happy with the legacy his character is leaving behind, though. “It’s really cool knowing that my character still has a legacy that was left behind,” Riggs said in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly. “Carl wasn’t being forgotten. He might be gone, but he’s leaving behind something that’s...

Rushed to trial with Cecile (taking leave from the Da’s office, which I guess you can do) defending him, Barry was frankly steamrolled by prosecutor Anton Slater, all based on the evidence and opportunity we presumed going in. Restraining order. Harassment. Knife. DNA.

Motive? Pfft.

Even worse, we never saw Cecile stage any kind of defense — probably because no one thinks we want a superhero court trial longer than an episode,

Rebecca Eaton Explains How To Get BBC To Tackle Quintessentially American ‘Little Women’ – TCA

Masterpiece's Little Women marks a breakthrough for PBS: It’s produced by BBC, which, producer Rebecca Eaton noted, "does not do American drama.” “It's hard to get America novels done with BBC because they are BBC – they have a mandate,” she said. Additionally, it can be expensive. “If you shoot in this country, it’s twice as expensive.” Set in Concord, Ma, Little Women was filmed in Ireland. It helped that Colin Callender was “the guy who was going to drive the train&#8221…

Adam Savage’s One Day Builds: Blade Runner 2049 Binoculars

Adam Savage’s one day builds have now incorporated the Blade Runner 2049 binoculars used by Deckard from the movie. Leave it to Adam to want to take on a project like this, as he’s a big fan and for some reason has focused on this one little thing from the movie that many other people might have dismissed out of hand. The movie itself wasn’t too bad but after watching it I can see now why it might have failed to impress that many people. You really have to be into the Blade Runner mythos to really get everything that

‘Shannara Chronicles’ Canceled After Two Seasons

‘Shannara Chronicles’ Canceled After Two Seasons
The Shannara Chronicles” has been canceled after two seasons, Variety has confirmed.

The show, based on the book series by Terry Brooks, aired its first season on MTV in early 2016 before moving to Spike ahead of its second season this past fall. The move came amid restructuring at MTV and Spike parent company Viacom. CEO Bob Bakish made changes at several Viacom-owned networks, with MTV shedding most of its scripted fare in favor of unscripted shows like a revival of “Fear Factor” hosted by rapper Ludacris. Spike itself is also preparing to relaunch as the Paramount Network.

The 10-episode second season of “The Shannara Chronicles” took a massive hit in the ratings compared to Season 1. Premiering in October, the show managed an anemic 0.09 rating in adults 18-49 and 250,000 viewers per episode, down approximately 75 percent.

The series starred Austin Butler, Ivana Baquero, Manu Bennett, Aaron Jakubenko, Marcus Vanco, Vanessa Morgan, Malese Jow, Gentry White, [link

Video of the Frozen Ocean off Cape Cod Beach is Breath Taking

If you were wondering if the sea could freeze then this view of Silver Beach off Cape Cod should answer that question handily. The breath-taking scene is that of a sea, at least a good chunk of it near the beach, that has frozen over and appears to be quite solid. Sea water can freeze, but it does so at a lower temperature than fresh water, freezing up at around 28.4 degrees F. That’s beyond cold for some of us, and just enough for sea water to start freezing solid. The salt in the water doesn’t stop it from freezing,

The Top Uses of R.E.M’s “Everybody Hurts” in Movies or TV

The funny thing about R.E.M.’s song Everybody Hurts is that during the making of the song the band was kind of thinking along the lines of making this for teenagers. They reasoned that going into high school was like entering a portal to hell, which is how some people might view it I suppose. But the song was meant for people of all ages, though there were only two band members that really created the track while all of them were in on the writing of the song, as they always were. The drums were synthesized and the entire song

‘The Assassination Of Gianni Versace’ Review: Tangled Tale Falls Out Of Fashion

Coming off the moonshot of 2016's multiple Emmy-winning The People v. O.J. Simpson, it was almost inevitable that The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story would fly a lot closer to Earth. So narrative gravity is very much a force in the January 17-premiering Acs, and despite a vivid aesthetic reminiscent of the slain fashion designer's work — and some great performances from a cast led by Edgar Ramirez, Darren Criss, Penelope Cruz, Ricky Martin, Judith…
