The new additions join Asher Angel as Billy, Zachary Levi as his magical alter ego Shazam, Mark Strong as Sivana, Jack Dylan Grazer (It) as Freddy and Grace Fulton (Annabelle: Creation) in a yet-to-be revealed role, which is said to be another of Billy’s friends.
Eugene and Pedro were first introduced in the DC story Flashpoint, which showed an alternate history of the DC world. When the company rebooted their comics line after Flashpoint with The New 52, Geoff Johns brought them over to the main continuity and gave them the ability to turn into their own versions of Shazam as Billy shared his powers with his new foster family.
"We are thrilled to reach this extraordinary benchmark as we come to the end of an amazing, record-setting year. Surpassing five billion dollars in a single year can only happen with an incredible level of hard work across all theatrical divisions, as well as
There have been rumors of a Pet Sematary remake brewing for quite some time. But with the success of director Andy Muschietti's It this year, studios have been keen to get in on the Stephen King action while the getting is good. Not only did It go on to become the highest-grossing horror movie ever, with $694 million worldwide,
Jack Dylan Grazer, who played Losers Club member Edward “Eddie” Kaspbrak in the 2017 Stephen King adaptation of It, is lining up his next project, one that will seem him join the superhero genre.
Grazer will play Freddy Freeman, the best friend of Billy Batson (Shazam). Grazer will join former Chuck star Zachary Levi in the film who is playing the titular superhero. Asher Angel has been cast as Billy Batson, the boy who turns into Levi’s Shazam when he utters his name. In the comic books, Freddy has also assumed the identity of Captain Marvel, Jr., as well as Captain Marvel/Shazam.
The film is to be directed by David F. Sandberg from a screenplay by Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke. Shazam! is being produced by Peter Safran with shooting for the project set
At the moment, there's not a whole lot of competition on that particular date. Warner Bros.' The Goldfinch is the only other movie currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on the same day. So Are You Afraid of the Dark? is potentially positioned as the big movie of the Halloween season in 2019. With the release date set, the studio will likely focus their attention on locking down a director for the project. No names have been mentioned in terms of a director yet,
It’s been a big year for Warner Bros. at the box office, featuring some big surprise hits and some more obvious wins. On Tuesday, the studio announced that this is the eighth time in nine years that they have made more than $4 billion in a year.
Contributing to its box office takings are the likes of Wonder Woman ($821 million), It surprising everyone with $694 million, Justice League currently at $570 million, Kong: Skull Island at $566 million, and Dunkirk with an impressive $525 million.
Beyond these titles there were three other WB movies that made more than $250 million in 2017. The Lego Batman Movie, Annabelle: Creation, and Blade Runner 2049 all contributed to the impressive total.
“We are thrilled to reach this extraordinary benchmark as we come to the end of an amazing, record-setting year,” Sue Kroll,
That’s higher than even Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which garnered 42 million for its initial teaser – for the record, The Last Jedi‘s full-length trailer racked up 39 million views through Lucasfilm’s own channel. And that’s something worth keeping in mind: these figures represent the trailers uploaded through YouTube’s official channels (Star Wars, Warner Bros. Pictures, Marvel), and don’t take into account those views that were collected on third-party channels.
That explains why Avengers: Infinity War was able to set a new record with 230 million views across a 24-hour period – It, meanwhile, scared up 197m global views across the same period – in case you’re wondering why these view counts are relatively low when compared to YouTube’s other heavy-hitters.
Annabelle: Creation begins on an isolated patch of California somewhere in the 1950’s. The beginning shots walk us through a doll makers’ trade. Unsettling close-ups of paint cracked faces, some with dead eyes, some with no eyes at all. Wooden arms and legs dangle in and out of focus as the masters’ hand fits the pieces together. By the end, we’re introduced to Annabelle, the most hideous doll ever hand crafted. You’ve probably seen this opening creation scene play out before. Nightmare on Elm Street, Child’s Play 2; it’s horror movie standard.
Quickly we’re introduced to the Mullins family. Samuel Mullins is a loving husband and father who makes a comfortable living with his dolls. His dolls are so popular,
The studio made the announcement on Tuesday, noting that it’s also the eighth time in the last nine years that Warner Bros. has earned more than $4 billion in a single year.
The announcement came five days after Disney proclaimed it had topped $5 billion worldwide for the third year in a row.
Warner Bros. noted that it had five titles take in more than $500 million worldwide with “Kong: Skull Island,” “Wonder Woman,” “Dunkirk,” “It,” and “Justice League.” Gal Gadot’s “Wonder Woman” leads the list with $821 million with “It” at $694 million, “Justice League” at $570 million, “Kong: Skull Island” at $566 million, and “Dunkirk” at $525 million.
Warner Bros. has not disclosed the budget on “Justice League” — which launched mid-November and is still doing decent business. Some estimates
At last weekend’s Heroes & Villains Fan Fest in California, Zachary Levi took to the stage, and talked a bit what Shazam! brings to the table, and what Marvel franchise it mirrors the most:
“James Gunn and the gang killed it. It brought so much heart and humor and yeah, I think it was kind of like this dark horse that took everybody by storm and I think Shazam kind of has the possibility to do that because Shazam’s not, for all intents and purposes, not Supes, it’s not Batman, it’s not Wonder Woman, it’s not what most of the people [expect].”
At this point, it’s hard to believe that there was a time when

Yet another prequel from The Conjuring universe detailing how the creepy Annabelle doll came to be.
Having now established that there is a ‘universe’ based around James Wan’s 2013 hit The Conjuring by making sequels and spinoffs about seemingly secondary characters and events mentioned in passing we end up here with Annabelle: Creation, not only the second prequel to The Conjuring but also the second prequel based around the creepy image of the Annabelle doll briefly seen in Wan’s original movie. Yes, it does seem that Warner Bros. are forcing this evil doll concept down our throats a bit but in their defence they do have a significantly creepier looking killer doll than Chucky and they aren’t about to let that particular cash cow
The video is the work of YouTuber Sleepy Skunk, who puts just about every movie that made more than a dime at the box office to good use in this nearly 7-minute odyssey looking back at 2017 movies. He even makes use of some great trailer moments from movies we haven't seen released yet, like Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. How could you
Taking to Instagram, David F. Sandberg posted a video from a DC animated project that features Billy Batson knocked unconscious. Batman approaches and, as Billy Batson wakes up, he utters the word, "Shazam!" He then transforms into the legendary comic book hero. The video then cuts to Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne waking up from the dream sequence featured in Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Sandberg edited this

Justice League wasn’t exactly what DC and WB were hoping for; the film didn’t perform well with critics and pulled in the lowest domestic opening for a Dceu film. This hasn’t helped the Dceu’s standing at all and only fuelled speculation regarding its future.
One such rumour claimed by a Reddit user, is that his “sources” at Warner Bros. told him they are planning on canning the DC Extended Universe and then taking a whole five years off while they sort things out and plan their next steps.
Well, no one told the director of the Shazam about this, David F. Sandberg. The director is a Reddit user and commented on the rumour, expressing his shock in a rather amusing and mocking manner.
“Nobody told me.” Sandberg wrote. “Can
