Goofs

When you presume that the legacy Star Trek time-line applies to this series: The insignia on the uniforms in this series are known as the "delta" emblems classic to the USS Enterprise crew in the Prime time-line. In canon, that insignia was devoted ONLY to those serving on the Enterprise until it became the fleet wide insignia after Kirk's historic five year mission. The Original Series Court Martial shows non-Enterprise crew wearing the Delta emblem. It was not until The Motion Picture, a decade later, that the emblem was 'retconned' into represented all of Starfleet - but it is false to say that it was canonical to only the USS Enterprise, when that was never a formal decision.

However, This time-line was reset at the day of Kirks Birth due to Director and Writer J.J. Abrams addition to the Romulan Mining Vessel. This new time-line exists within the 10 years prior to Kirk's command of the NCC-1701 U.S.S. Enterprise. While this new time-line seems to be irrelevant to the Insignia, it cannot be discounted that this new Timeline Change may have affected the back story this Insignia. Especially when you consider the new time-line, Kirk was also most Court Martial and kicked out of StarFleet for cheating on the Kobayashi Maru test. In the legacy time-line, Kirk was award and recognized for his original thinking. The new Timeline was not as kind to Kirk for this cheat. See more »

Just Awful
24 September 2017 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

Here's the thing about Star Trek: despite all the crazy things that have gone on in the show and movies there was always a certain logic, certain rules, that held the boundaries of the Star Trek universe together. The shows did push those boundaries at times, and the more recent movies have been playing perilously close to the edge, but this latest instalment completely abandons them. Watch this show for 5 minutes (if you can stand it) and you will know what I mean. Any notion of "science fiction" has been left in the dust. This show is pure fantasy.

But beyond that, it's just bad. The acting is wooden. The characters are unlikable. The special effect seem fake. The writing is cliché after cliché. Nobody acts like you would expect real people to act. The cast seems to be picked solely to fulfill artificial race and gender quotas, to a point where it's noticeable. Such a menagerie might look good in some corporate boardroom but doesn't provide any actual value or chemistry to the show.

This show doesn't feel like "Star Trek," it feels like a bad, low budget sci-fi show from an obscure TV channel. It makes a sad statement on the time we live in.
