Storyline

Young, diverse members of an organization started by General John "Black Jack" Pershing in 1894 learn about his life and achievements, which culminated in his victorious command of the American Expeditionary Forces in WWI. Pershing accomplished much in his life as a military leader, an educator, and diplomat. He led American soldiers on three continents; from Native Americans on the plains to the Moro tribes of the Philippines, from Cuba's San Juan Hill to the chase for Pancho Villa through Mexico, culminating with the assurance of the Allied forces' victory in WWI. Pershing's nickname, "Black Jack" is derived from his high regard for Buffalo Soldiers who fought in the segregated American Armies of the era. Written by Joe Hartnett
