Just more trash to skip
The first episode was the only good one of the three I forced myself to watch, but then they completely glossed over the racism towards demi- humans and the "what makes a human" aspects in order to help otakus get their rocks off. It turned from decent social commentary to just another pile of trash coming out of Japan as soon as the second episode started, but this time you don't have to feel bad for your pedophile attraction towards the cute little girl that gets a lot of screen time because "it's totally cool man, she's a full-grown bird". Also a completely overlook-able centaur has to be thrown in because thinking horses are sexy is a thing now. You Westerners should be ashamed of yourself for giving this type of trash so much recognition that it gets mass-produced by a country that doesn't even like it for more than the money it makes.
Get Bass (1999)
Two versions, both good but one better
The XBLA/PSN version is a straight port from the Dreamcast; the Wii version is expanded and slightly harder.
Dreamcast/XBLA/PSN: * 8 stages with weather and time options to choose from in Practice mode * A short tournament that unlocks more lures * An arcade mode that unlocks more lures
Wii: * 15 stages with weather and time options to choose from in Practice mode and Nature Trip mode (basically Practice mode without music) * A longer tournament mode that unlocks more lures * 3 Arcade modes that each unlock more lures * More lures * Smarter fish that are harder to reel in
Both versions are good and cheap, and I've spent countless hours on each, but the Wii is where it really shines. If you're looking for a pretty realistic fishing game you won't find it here, but if you want a fun and easy fishing game to pass the time with this is my first choice.
Akai katana (2010)
Missing everything that made DeathSmiles good
I like danmaku (bullet hell) games as much as the next person but Akai Katana is so bare it's uninteresting. There's no actual story so you just go around shooting stuff and trying not to get shot so you can meet an end-level boss you've no reason to fight other than they're there and a final boss you fight just to finish the game. There's no reason to get invested and learn all the patterns or which of the three characters work best for you and get good at it because you'll forget it the first time you play it.
It's a 4/10 game at best, and that's only because there's not a large enough danmaku library to only pick the best ones to play.
